“New Slang” by The Shins

27 Aug

I first heard this song when I was watching fireworks two Fourth of July’s ago.  We were sitting on top of a car and this song came on.  This song made everything more wonderful then it already was.  We were laying on our backs, watching the stars just as much as we were watching the fireworks…And this song snuck into the scene…And wow, I’ll never forget it!

This is a really great song. It was featured in the movie “Garden State” and the scene could be seen right here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ziwr4f5eR0M. Natalie Portman’s character tells Zach Braff’s character, “This song will change your life”. 🙂

“Garden State” is a really great movie by the way, if you haven’t seen it yet. The first couple of minutes is kinda dark and sad, but as soon Natalie Portman’s character shows up, the movie becomes really uniquely charming and has this really profound message about life. A lot of what Zach Braff’s character says reminds me a lot of what you would say in your blogs.

The movie has a really incredible, I mean just incredible soundtrack. It has: The Shins, Coldplay, and many more artists. It also includes one of the many cover versions of a song called “Such Great Heights”. I’m not really sure who is the original artist of the song is anymore, but this version is by Iron & Wine.

The other day you asked what romantic movies I can recommend? A lot of the ones I’ve watched are really cheesy ones that are not noteworthy. This one though I fully recommend. Heck even if you don’t like romantic movies, it’s still a great movie.
